Free Job Coaching in ENGLISH
For people who are unemployed and registered with the Agentur für Arbeit or jobcenter
Job Coaching in english for queers
Navigating your life in Germany can be overwhelming. There are many opportunities, but it is compounded with a rigid understanding of a career pathway, mountains of (paper) bureaucracy, determining what part of you wants to be within “the system” and what part wants to be free.
The Agentur für Arbeit and Jobcenter offer coaching to help you orientate yourself during your unemployment. I work with a provider, StartSteps, to offer two different coaching services. NOTE: for both services there is a mandated framework that we need to execute, however I try and be as open and flexible as possible so there is space for us to determine the right path and the best method of coaching for you individually.
Job Orientation Coaching - For people who are currently registered unemployed.
This coaching is centred around helping you prepare your next steps in your career. Figuring our what is possible, getting a plan together, and taking the first steps. In reality, it may also include decompressing from your previous experiences, recovery from burnout, navigating boundaries, reframing what is possible, helping to formulate your next life chapter.
Transition Coaching - For people who have been long term unemployed and have now found a job.
Coaching sessions as you transition into the first few weeks your new placement. Navigating starting to work again, finding yourself in a workplace and all the dynamics and challenges this brings up. A check-in, transition valve to help with this new life.
The process
Book a quick video call with me - so we can meet and see if we have a good flow for coaching.
If you want to go ahead, I will connect you with a colleague who will provide you with case to present to your Arbeitsvermittler/in at the Jobcenter/AfA. This will detail what we will cover and the amount of units required (the funding).
Perhaps your Arbeitsvermittler/in has already recommended coaching and they are suggesting a school of their choice. You can challenge this and suggest your own coaching provider.
You present this proposal to your Arbeitsvermittler/in. If they approve, they will issue you with an Aktivierungs- und Vermittlungsgutschein (AVGS).
You bring the AVGS back to me, we process it.
We set up the dates for our coaching - twice a week for a up to a couple of months (depends on how many units are given)
We begin - either online or at my place in Kreuzberg.
Lastly, coaching for queers?
I am not exclusive to only helping people who are queer, but I do want to create a space that allows all the complexities that make us human, something that is missing in this rigid world. I want to create a forum where nothing is too much, or taboo. Be complex, be human. Anyone belonging to a marginalised group constantly needs to navigate how much of themselves they share in each interaction - “Am I too much?” - “Will this person understand or judge me?” - “Can I bring this topic into the session?”. My wish is for the volume of these doubts to be turned down, so they interfere less with being as audacious as you desire.
